FUSO21

Drink what the local Italian intelligentsia is having on a Wednesday...

21 Regions, 21 Producers, 21 Terroir-Driven Daily Drinkers

FUSO21: DAILY DRINKERS with CUT: 21 Regions, 21 Producers, 21 Terroir-Driven Daily Drinkers. Coming down from alpine wines, we want to be able to offer daily drinkers that aren’t from tank farms. FUSO21 wines are a buck or two more than the industrial stuff, but we believe in quality and in economic sustainability for the grower and land. We also believe that there are lots of folks who will pay a smidgen more for a daily drinker with some character, e.g. Verdicchio from Matelica instead of any-old Pinot Grigio.

If you have nostalgia for those delicious local vini quotidiani you had while in Italy, here's a chance to metaphysically rub elbows with the locals again. Keeping true to vini quotidiani, we chose deliciousness, even a rustic character sometimes, over complexity and polish. We are heading Sud and to Sardegna this year, so watch out for those…

FUSO21: 'LE SALSE' Verdicchio di Matelica

Why Be Curious:

The Vineyards are on top of a Jurassic period raised sea bed, near salt water springs called 'le salse,.' (from 'sale' / salt.) The raised and unique position of the valley North / South blocks off the tempering coastal influence, causing extreme day / night temperature differences. All this makes for racy, mineral wines; tangerine and green apple.

Tasting Notes:

FUSO21: 'BRUSCO' Rosso Toscano Sangiovese

Why Be Curious:

BRUSCO is still used in the Tuscan dialect today defining 'a person or thing' that is 'off the cuff and a bit rough but genuine through and through.'

Tasting Notes:

PRODUCER: Villa del Cigliano
This minerally wine of taut fruit beseeches no one except maybe a hunk of grilled bread with some Tuscan olive oil,or, the occasional one-eyed Wild Boar.

Vineyard:

REGION: TOSCANA. Area: in Chianti Classico beginning just 10 minutes outside Florence around Medieval hill top town of San Casciano. Hills are of chalk and clay; 800 feet.
